Yunnan & Tibet

Yunnan province and the Tibetan autonomous region are two fascinating political and geographical areas of southern China. The monasteries and villages are stunning, the mountains breathtaking, and the people warm and friendly. They are less Westernized and locals still wear traditional clothing while going about their everyday tasks. Pilgrims walk great distances, twirling their prayer wheels, to pay homage to Buddha. In one settlement a woman shows off her solar oven. Paradoxically, cell phones are everywhere and I suspect cell coverage exceeds what I have at home.
